Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
Isaiah 58: 12
WHO I AM
Honestly, I am just a woman who has done a little bit of a lot of things, all with the goal of loving God and loving people. Throughout my many roles in life God has continued to mold and teach me. I am definitely still a work in progress, but one that God has called to share from experience and education to bring awareness and a different way of engaging the potential of His Kingdom to churches and ministries. The greatest refining has taken place in the last 6 years as God called me to start a nonprofit ministry serving the materially poor and marginalized in Guatemala (and then give it back to Him), complete a Master’s Degree in Social and Civic Entrepreneurship and now start and lead the missions and outreach ministry at my home church. While it has been a busy 6 years, I look back on my roles before this in grateful appreciation as God has used them all to prepare me for what is in front of me. I have been a high school teacher, economic crisis case manager, youth ministry volunteer, mom of 3 (including the ongoing journey of international adoption and autism spectrum disorder), MOPS Coordinator, preschool ministry director, and missions committee volunteer.
God has transformed (and continues to refine) my understanding of the best practices of missions, outreach and community engagement, both on a local and global level. I believe He is calling me to help churches and Christian organizations to look at missions, community engagement and outreach with new lenses. In my current role as Director of Missions and Outreach at my home church, I lead the ministry with three goals:
- An activated and equipped church body, living in true connection and relationship with Jesus in their neighborhoods, workplaces, schools.
- A church that appropriately engages the community, drawing the lost, hurt and broken to Jesus.
- A church that empowers missionaries locally and internationally in a true humility-based partnership as they draw people to Jesus.
